Sick children

We ask that your child is fit when they come to nursery. We therefore encourage you to keep your child at home if they are ill. If your child has been ill, please alert us. We ask that children who have had sickness and/or diarrhoea are kept at home for 48 hours after the symptoms have ceased. For all other childhood illnesses such as chickenpox or impetigo, please contact the nursery for advice about when your child may return.

We also ask for detailed medical history in the nursery registration form. Please ensure that this is fully completed giving as much information as you can.

Administration of medicine

Parents of full-time children may bring medicines into the nursery for administration by qualified staff. Medicines should be clearly labelled with the name of the child and the dose. Medicines should be handed over from an adult to a member of staff. A written record of the date, time and dose of the medicine administered will be kept for you to sign.

Please note we refuse to accept responsibility for administering medicine in circumstances where the timing is crucial, or were technical or medical knowledge is required.

role play

Asthma sufferers

Inhalers may be brought to nursery as easy access to a reliever inhaler is vital. Government guidelines state that where possible, it is considered good practice to encourage children to manage their own condition as early as is consistent with their development. Supervision will be given to children using inhalers. A signature will be required in the event of an inhaler being used.
